Nutrition means the nourishment which our body requires for growth and development. It is basically a process of obtaining or providing food which is necessary for promoting health and growth. It is a combination of different processes which includes food consumption, producing energy out of it and using the energy for growth, development, health, metabolism, and repairing of the body. The nutrition has the following stages like ingestion, transport, digestion absorption, assimilation, and excretion.

Nutrition plays a critical part in one’s health and development. Better nutrition shows better health and is also helpful in keeping you away from diseases and lowers the risk of infectious or communicable diseases. People with adequate and better nutrition are more productive, active and energetic. While on the other hand, people who lack nutrition are more prone to cause diseases, they feel lethargic and less energetic in comparison to others which is why they are less productive majorly in all important domains of life.

Role of nutrition in one’s life
Nutrients have one or more of three basic functions which are described as below:
a.    Nutrition generates and provides energy to the body,
b.    Nutrition contributes to your body structure, and
c.    Nutrition regulates various chemical processes in the body

These basic functions allow one to detect and respond to the internal and external environment of the body such as movement, excretion of wastes, respiration (breathe), growth, and reproduction. A healthy diet supports normal physical and mental growth, development and ageing, and also helps to maintain a healthy body weight. It reduces the risk of chronic disease leading to your overall health and well-being which is why nutrition plays a major role in our health.

For example- Healthy children grow better, learn better and explore better. Malnutrition poses severe threats to health as well as holistic well-being. Today, the world is facing a huge problem of malnutrition and it includes both malnourished and overweight, especially and mostly in low- and middle-income countries.
